Bronx nursing home creates ‘drive-in’ family visits during coronavirus pandemic

A Bronx nursing home began “drive-in” reunions Thursday between families and elderly loved ones who haven’t visited each other in person since the start of the coronavirus pandemic.

Rosa De Soto-Harrison started to cry behind the wheel of her SUV as she laid eyes on her 92-year-old mother, Gloria, sitting in a wheelchair behind a plexiglass vestibule at the Hebrew Home at Riverdale. The two spoke using an intercom system reminiscent of ones used at drive-through movies.
