Inside look: St. Ann strives to give residents ‘their best life’ amid pandemic

When COVID-19 struck, nursing homes became islands and family members were cut off from their loved ones.

For nearly a year, nursing homes have been in the news, with dedicated staff trying, sometimes unsuccessfully to keep outbreaks to a minimum. Part of that effort meant closing their doors to visitors. This has caused stress to residents who sometimes are unable to understand why they can’t have visitors. It is causing heartbreak to residents’ loved ones, who want nothing more than to visit.

In efforts to make things easier, the staff of nursing homes, assisted living residences and skilled nursing care homes have made every effort to find ways to keep their residents connected and happy, and to assure family members that their loved ones are getting the same great quality care they always were.
