Nursing homes keeping residents connected through technology
With personal visits from family and friends out of the question as the coronavirus spreads, staff members at area nursing homes are using technology to keep residents connected to the outside world.
Ridgeview Health Services and Ridgewood Health Services posted pictures on their respective Facebook pages on Thursday and Friday that showed residents talking to their families with FaceTime. Both facilities closed their doors to visitors last Friday.
At Cordova Health and Rehabilitation, LLC, a Skype station has been set up in the facility’s conference room so that residents can come in one at a time for virtual visitation.
Both FaceTime and Skype allow residents and their family members to see each other while carrying on a conversation.
